Ear Pinning (Otoplasty)

If you or your child has ears that protrude too far (a trait known as Promin Auris), one way to bring the ears closer to the sides of the head is with ear pinning. This is a type of ear surgery, commonly referred to as otoplasty, removes small amounts of cartilage and skin to reposition the ears closer to the face and to achieve a higher degree of symmetry among facial features.

In most cases, ear pinning is performed simultaneously to both ears to ensure facial harmony. At Nesmith Plastic Surgery Center, patients above the age of five may receive ear pinning. Short Scar Facelift

When it comes to facelift procedures, Dr. Nesmith offers his patients several options, including the short-scar facelift. How does this procedure differ from a full or traditional facelift?

In terms of the surgery, a short-scar facelift requires a smaller-size incision — one that doesn’t extend behind the ear, like a full facelift, but only from the sideburns along the front of the ear. The neck and jawline alterations from a short-scar facelift are also less extensive.

This procedure is suitable for patients in their 40s and 50s that want to revitalize their neck and facial skin but don’t yet require a full facelift. The duration of both the surgery and recovery are also shorter, which makes short-scar facelifts especially appealing to first-time patients.
