A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words BEFORE & AFTER GALLERY

The face can reveal significant details about a person, including their health and wellness; moods and expressions; and beauty and character. Over the years and with age, however, certain facial features may start to sag and fold, especially around the cheeks, neck, and jawline, resulting in the loss of a distinctive and youthful facial appearance.

Facelift surgery is a cosmetic procedure that restores youthful characteristics to the face by reducing sagging skin around the cheeks, lower jawline (jowls), and neck and removing skin folds near the nose and mouth. Dr. Nesmith tailors each facelift to the patient’s needs, taking into consideration their skin health, bone structure, and other factors, to help achieve a natural, uplifted appearance.

Rhinoplasty (Nose Job)

The nose is the centerpiece of the face and, oftentimes, it is among the most recognizable facial features. Seeing as symmetry is often associated with beauty, an asymmetrical, crooked, or disproportionate nose can often lead to reduced self-confidence.

A rhinoplasty also referred to as a nose job or nose surgery alters the size and shape of the nose to both facilitate facial harmony and achieve facial balance. Rhinoplasty is also performed to improve breathing, reduce sinus problems, and solve snoring issues.

Whether you wish to change the length, width, or angle of the nose or eliminate bumps or dips for a perfect profile, Dr. Nesmith can provide you with a nose that meets your expectations and adequately balances your features.

Neck Lift

Early in life, the neck is not as much a focal point as a bridge that connects and accentuates the upper body and face. However, when aging causes sagging bands and folds to appear on the neck, it takes the focus away from other features and makes the person look older than they feel.

Neck lift surgery is used to erase noticeable signs of aging by tightening the neck’s skin and muscles, creating a smoother and more contoured neck and jawline that project a younger appearance overall. Whether you’re looking to soften a few creases and folds or remove fatty jowls and revitalize each part of the face, a neck lift can help.

Dr. Nesmith can perform a neck lift either as a standalone procedure or in conjunction with a facelift and other surgical and cosmetic procedures.

Mole Removal Surgery

Moles, or nevi, are typically considered to either be signs of beauty or nuisances depending on the location and quantity in which they occur on the face or body. Mole removal is typically an elective procedure, as the vast majority of moles pose no danger, but certain moles may cause physical discomfort or even present a risk of cancer and should be removed due to health concerns.

The safest and most effective method of mole removal is surgery. As leading plastic surgeons in Gainesville, our physicians demonstrate superior precision with surgical tools for the specialized and comprehensive removal of moles. Dr. Nesmith also helps patients determine whether moles pose health risks or concerns through examination and laboratory assessment.

(Deviated Septum Surgery)

If you or someone you know suffers from a deviated septum, a condition in which the bone and cartilage that separate the nostrils are displaced, then you know it not only affects one’s appearance but also their health and quality of life.
Breathing problems, nosebleeds, and pain are just a few of the numerous symptoms of a deviated septum. Dr. Nesmith performs septoplasty, a corrective plastic surgery nose procedure that straightens deviated septums and restores proper function and comfort to the patient.

We account for both the medical and aesthetic considerations of septoplasty and commonly pair the procedure with rhinoplasty to enhance the patient’s breathing, to improve their appearance, and unveil their self confidence.

Eyelid Surgery

Eyelid surgery, also known as blepharoplasty, involves surgical changes to the upper or lower eyelids to improve the appearance of the face or one’s vision. The ways in which eyelid surgery can make the face appear more youthful include the removal of fatty deposits to soothe puffy eyelids and the softening of wrinkles under the eyes for a revitalized appearance.

This surgery can also tighten sagging or drooping skin within the upper eyelids for those with hooded eyes in order to erase the most common signs of facial aging and to improve vision. The board-certified plastic surgeons at Nesmith Plastic Surgery Center have the experience, skills, and tools required to create stunning results for patients who seek surgical improvement to the eyelids.

Brow Lift
(Forehead Lift)

Commonly referred to as a forehead lift, a brow lift is an effective way to correct sagging skin and wrinkles on multiple areas of the upper face. This procedure removes excess skin, tissue, and muscle from the forehead region to affect the look of the forehead, eyebrows, and eyelids.

Brow lifts are often combined with facelifts, eyelid surgery, and rhinoplasty as part of a comprehensive plastic surgery face procedure. However, forehead lifts are also popular as standalone procedures for both women and men of all ages who want to enhance their brows by reducing the signs of aging or to counteract the effects of congenital defects.

We offer several methods of brow lifts, including hairline incisions and minimally invasive lifts using an endoscope.

Cheek Implants

While prominent cheekbones are considered beautiful by many people, not everyone is so lucky to be born with their preferred degree of cheek definition. Some individuals naturally feature flat cheeks, while others develop sunken cheeks later in life due to an injury or aging tissue and fat depletion.

Cheek augmentation is a surgical procedure performed with implants in which the cheekbones are made more prominent for increased dimension and contour to the patient’s facial profile.

Dr. Nesmith offers cheek augmentation, also called malar augmentation, to patients of varying ages. Particularly in patients with facial wrinkles, cheek implants can eliminate the need for additional surgeries by removing loose facial skin and reducing wrinkles.

Ear Pinning (Otoplasty)

If you or your child has ears that protrude too far (a trait known as Promin Auris), one way to bring the ears closer to the sides of the head is with ear pinning. This is a type of ear surgery, commonly referred to as otoplasty, removes small amounts of cartilage and skin to reposition the ears closer to the face and to achieve a higher degree of symmetry among facial features.

In most cases, ear pinning is performed simultaneously to both ears to ensure facial harmony. At Nesmith Plastic Surgery Center, patients above the age of five may receive ear pinning. However, Dr. Nesmith adjusts the procedure slightly, such as using different types of anesthesia, based on each patient’s age and medical needs to ensure the safety and comfort of the patient.

Lip Augmentation

While lips are generally regarded as an essential characteristic of beauty, what defines “beautiful lips” also varies from person to person. Whether you desire to have fuller, more voluptuous lips or you seek to alter the shape of your lips, our lip augmentation procedures can help you achieve results you will love.

Among the several different methods of lip enhancement available at Nesmith Plastic Surgery Center, injectable dermal fillers, such as Juvederm® XC, are the most popular. This type of non-surgical cosmetic procedure temporarily adds natural-looking volume to the lips and reduces fine lip lines. The results can last for months and be maintained through regular treatment with our plastic surgery center.

Chin Augmentation

The chin provides the face with much of its distinctive character. However, if a small, weak, or recessed chin detracts from your ideals of beauty, Dr. Nesmith can provide you with a permanent solution through chin implant surgery.

Chin augmentation implants are placed above the chin bone to create the lower facial profile you desire. Using an artistic eye, Dr. Nesmith will suggest the proper size of the implant to make the chin proportionate with your nose and neck.

If you desire a chin reduction, Dr. Nesmith can adjust the size of the chin by removing or repositioning portions of the chin bone. In some cases, chin surgery is paired with rhinoplasty to help facilitate harmony throughout each part of the face.

Scar Revision Surgery

Most scars exist on the body go unnoticed, yet when a scar is particularly large and unsightly or featured on a prominent part of the body, such as the arms, legs, or face, it could prevent you from wearing swimwear or types of clothing that feature low necklines or short hemlines.

Whether your scar is the result of an injury, a medical procedure, or genetics, we can help minimize its appearance with reconstructive scar revision surgery. Scar revision procedures vary based on the scar’s characteristics — discolorations, hypertrophic scars (from wounds), keloids, and contractures (around joints) — but all of them aim to make scars appear less conspicuous by blending them to the natural tones and textures of the surrounding skin.

Short Scar Facelift

When it comes to facelift procedures, Dr. Nesmith offers his patients several options, including the short-scar facelift. How does this procedure differ from a full or traditional facelift?

In terms of the surgery, a short-scar facelift requires a smaller-size incision — one that doesn’t extend behind the ear, like a full facelift, but only from the sideburns along the front of the ear. The neck and jawline alterations from a short-scar facelift are also less extensive.

This procedure is suitable for patients in their 40s and 50s that want to revitalize their neck and facial skin but don’t yet require a full facelift. The duration of both the surgery and recovery are also shorter, which makes short-scar facelifts especially appealing to first-time patients.
